The year 2016 is very important for the 24 Manai Telugu Chettiar Pattadharigal (Graduates) Sangam which is functioning very well at Coimbatore.

The sangam (Association) which was started in the year 1992, having a small group of members, steps into its 25th year, this 2016. Without any motive for making profit, but 'service' as the main motto, our sangam (association) has been functioning well for the past 25 years. It is really a great achievement for an association to work successfully for 25 years. The association has grown from a sapling stage to a deep rooted tree by doing different social activities tirelessly and continuously.

In the year 1990, Mr.Shanmugasundaram, a lawyer who belongs to our community arranged for a meeting at sugam Hotel, R.S Puram. He had invited educated and eminent people of our community, who are residents of Coimbatore with the intention of them getting to know each other. Those who attended the meeting wanted the Association (Sangam) to expand and grow. Therefore many meetings were arranged. In the year 1991, an introductory meeting was organized at Hotel Subsasri, Ramnagar where in advocate Mr.R.S.Velan presided the meeting and Mr.Shanmugasundaram was elected secretary of the association.

It was a great opportunity for our community people staying at Coimbatore to not only know each other well, but also gather details about other's profession and educational qualification, through these meetings.

Following this, respected Mr.P.K.Arunachalam, lawyer Mr.K.Sivasanmugam, Mr.M.Natarajan, and other graduates decided to make the Association useful to others. They also named it "24 Manai Telugu Chettiar Pattadharigal Sangam", since people of our community gave importance only to business as their profession, there were very few educated people in our community.

There were only very few graduates in our homes. The idea of naming the Association "Pattadharigal" was to produce graduates in all our homes and encourage people of our community to inspire their children and not involve graduate members alone to get into social activities of the sangam (Association).

The Association which was started in the year 1994, Organized a grand function at "Sri Raja Nivas "building at R.S.Puram which is well known to Mr.M.Natarajan. The idea behind the function was to encourage students and produce graduates in all our homes. Also students who secured 80% marks and above in the 10th and 12th standard examinations were identified and given medals, certificates and some cash to encourage their education. The first year annual function was successfully organized by a group of respected persons like Mr.P.K.Arunachalam, Lawyers Mr. Shanmugam, Mr. Natarajan, Mr.M.K.G, Professor Rengasamy from Pollachi, Mr.S.Kannan from Tripur, Mr.Sukumar Nataraja Boopathy, Mr.T.Padmanabhan, Mr.A.Sakthivel, Advocate, Mr, and C.V.Shanmugam from Coimbatore. Also many persons had participated in this function during that period. Though it is not possible to remember their names, nobody can deny the contribution they had made for the growth of the Association.

There was a great acceptance by people of our community for the association and the functions organized to encourage as well as appreciate students. This had inspired the members of our association to conduct similar functions every year. Moreover, the continuous moral and monetary support given by the members of our Association has been the reason behind conducting such functions continuously without any disruption. Every year, such a function is organized with the guidance and support of eminent people from our community along with political activities and educationists.

The idea behind starting the association (sangam) had to be fulfilled and in order to protect this agenda; a functionary committee was setup with Mr.Kannan as the head and advocate Mr.Sivashanmugam as the secretary. The association functioned very well under the leadership of Mr.P.K.Arunachalam, professor Rengasamy, padmanabhan, Mr.Sakthivel and secretaries like Dr.Selvaraj, Dr.Radhakrishnan, Dr.Srinivasan, Mr.Sathyan, Mr.Gopinath , Dr.Sampath and Mr.Jeyachandran

The laudable activities of our Association attracted the attention of our head Association. Therefore, Mr.K.C.Palanisamy who was the head of our Head Association, organized the Head Association's meeting along with the pattadharigal (Graduates) sangam function at Coimbatore. Also our Association's member Mr.P.K.Arunachalalm was appointed as the Secretary of the Head Association .All the members of our association supported him in all the activities of the Head Association .

Our Association has been actively involved in medical services, matrimonial services, apart from functions organized for encouraging student for their education. Each these functions have been conducted successfully .The Matrimonial service which has grown tremendously functioned, initially at the office of Mr.Sivashanmugam who is a lawyer and the first secretary of our Association. During this period, inspired by the activities of our Association, Dr.Srinivasan, Dr.Balamurugan, Dr.Jawahar, Dr.VenkateshBabu, Dr.Paunraj , Dr.Suthanthiradevi and many other doctors conducted free medical camps .Due to immense trust in the Association all of these people came to administrative positions for securing the people of our community. In addition to this Mr.K.Jeyakumar, Mr.Sathyan, Mr.Jeyavardhan, Mr.Planikumar, Mr.K.Kalimuthu, Mr.Muthukmar and many others joined our association and offered their services.

People from our community greatly welcomed the matrimonial services ,Apart from the education day function , separate matrimonial related function (manamalai) were organized continuously due to the constant support every year for 'Manamalai' functions ,Mr.R.P.K.Jeyakumar generously consented to set up matrimony office at his building kanthasamy & co complex .Every year this function is held successfully with proper technical support . Our Association is working tirelessly and continuously for offering various service to our community .
